The ‘Trivium Method’ is a classical education basis for thinking and learning. It goes back as far as ancient Greece, being explained by Plato in his monologues. Other sources suggest that this method is used in organizations such as the Illuminati.
In Latin, the word trivium means ‘the place where three roads meet’. As such, the ‘Trivium Method’ consists of learning and practicing three skills referred to as grammar (can be referred to as knowledge), dialectic (logic/analysis), and rhetoric (communicating opinion). Grammar (knowledge) is learning about the way things are or were. Dialectic allows us to question these ideas and views and Rhetoric enables us to communicate our views. We see this as the foundation of all learning.
The aim of the ‘Trivium Method’ is to enable students to become ‘philosophers’ who are curious about the world around them, seek to learn more about many things both within and beyond the curriculum and aim to become well rounded individuals.
